INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY MADRAS (IITM) - Summer Fellowship Programme 2011

The IITM ‐ Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer miniproject undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Eligibility: 
Candidates pursuing third year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg)/Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme, first year of ME/M.Tech/M.Sc./M.A, MBA with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics
Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained.

[IIT students are not eligible to apply].

Period of the Project: The contact period for the project will be two months normally during 16 th May ‐ 15 th July 2011. However depending on the convenience, the selected candidates can undertake the project at any time subject to the availability of faculty.

Stipend: A sum of Rs.6,500/‐ (maximum) will be given as a stipend for a total period of 2 months.

Molecular Imaging Fellow - Atlanta

Position: Molecular Imaging Fellow – Senior Associate Position

Description:

Emory University is accepting applications for a Molecular Imaging Research fellowship. The term of the fellowship may be for one year to two years, depending on the training objectives of the fellow. The fellow will spend 100% of his or her time dedicated to research and academic pursuits to advance molecular imaging in a vibrant teaching environment and an opportunity to work with advanced technology including dedicated PET-MR, high field strength MR, optical imaging devices, and a full nanotechnology infrastructure in cooperation with Georgia Institute of Technology. State of the art equipment also includes cyclotron and animal facilities and imaging devices. The successful MD level candidate will either have completed or is in good standing in an ACGME radiology residency or fellowship. Consideration will be given to those candidates who have a strong research background, such as MD-PhDs. The fellow will report to a thesis board composed of four mentors from the following areas: Optical Imaging and Phototherapy, MR, Nanotechnology and NanoMedicine and Nuclear Medicine. The selected fellow will plan and execute 1-2 research projects utilizing resources at Emory with the specific goal of bridging established clinical modalities such as PET and/or MR with emerging fields such as optical imaging and/or nanotechnology. The fellow will benefit from attending didactic lectures and seminars offered through the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, the Division of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the Winship Cancer Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as other internal and external speakers.

1 year fellowship in the Center for Pharmaceutical and Molecular Imaging

A one-year fellowship in the Center for Pharmaceutical and Molecular Imaging is offered to radiologists and radiology trainees to study the applications of contrast media in magnetic resonance imaging and optical imaging. The experience includes work in the laboratory with animal imaging as well as participation in clinical studies. The fellow is a member of a multi-disciplinary group including radiologists, chemists, pharmacologists, and MRI specialists. The position is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the conduct of scientific investigations and a broad exposure to MR imaging and molecular imaging for candidates interested in an academic career. The fellow will work with faculty in the Clinical MRI Section and will be encouraged to develop new projects and to actively participate in ongoing protocols.
The Department of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco offers four one-year positions in biomedical imaging research. The Department has a long record of excellence in clinical and academic radiology, with substantive extra-mural funding, and the University provides a fertile ground for interdisciplinary collaboration with numerous outstanding basic scientists and clinicians already engaged in cutting edge imaging research. The program is sponsored by a grant from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (1 T32 EB001631-04), and is designed to give radiologists-in-training and junior nuclear medicine physicians the skills required to become independent clinical scientific investigators and leaders in academic biomedical imaging. The Program includes formal training in Clinical Research, Biostatistical Methods, and Grant Writing. Trainees will complete one year of full-time dedicated research supplemented by appropriate core and project-specific coursework in one of 4 systematic tracks (Abdominal Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Neuroradiology, and Molecular/Nuclear Medicine) followed by an additional clinical fellowship with 40% dedicated research time in the associated Section. The systematic tracks are based on existing sections in the UCSF Department of Radiology that have an ongoing and established commitment to multidisciplinary collaborative research in biomedical imaging, although the Program emphasizes flexibility and alternative approaches may be possible according to individual interests. Mentorship and supervision will be provided by teams incorporating radiologists, basic scientists, and clinicians. The Department provided state of the art imaging facilities with extensive laboratory support.

The Toshiba Fellowship Programme 2010

The Toshiba Fellowship Programme 2010 is open for applications from Tuesday 01 September 2009 through to Friday 11 December 2009.

Toshiba, supported by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) is offering outstanding European scientists the opportunity to join one of its high-technology research teams in Japan for up to two years.

The Toshiba Fellowship Programme is open to PhD level researchers of EU nationality currently working in a UK academic institution. Nature of work

Toshiba Fellows usually remain in their team for up to two years. The type of work carried out depends mainly on which team the Fellow joins and the research project area. A normal working day is standard eight hours, Monday to Friday. So that they can settle in and feel at home in their work and a new country, Toshiba assigns a mentor to assist the Fellow in and outside of the workplace.
