DA-VINCI ROBOTIC SURGICAL SYSTEM

Da vinci robotic surgical system is manufactured by a company known as Intuitive Surgical,Inc. Many people think that the robot does the surgeries, but really the robot doesnt do (Still, many centuries are there to teach artificial intelligence to the robots !!) . The robotic arm will be controlled by the surgeon remotely and he operates the arm of the robot to perform the surgery.

The da vinci surgical system has operator (surgeon) console and a patient table with four robotic arms which will be controlled by the surgeon from the console. Three robotic arms will hold the surgical tools, and fourth arm has the endoscopic camera with two lens to send the vision of the surgery to the surgeon console.

The surgeon in his console views the 3D images of the surgery through eye holes and controls the robot arms with his two hand controllers and pedals. The intelligent technology precisely converts the surgeon hand movements to control the robotic arms performing the surgery.

Here, have a look how a surgeon performs a surgery through robotic arms with help of Da Vnci surgical system.

The medical applications of Da vinci robotic system are:

1.) Cardiac Valve repair
2.) Gastric bypass syrgery
3.) Prostatectomy
4.) Nephrectomy
5.) Hysterectomy
6.) Splenectomy
7.) Pyeloplasty
8.) Sacrocolpropexy
9.) Cystectomy
10.) Adrenalectomy, and more applications

Webcast - Vision Guided Robotics

Webcast Date: September 16, 2009

Who Should Attend:
Engineers and system integrators who are responsible for developing, designing, specifying, or reviewing applications involving robots and machine vision components and systems.

This Webcast - Vision-Guided Robotics - will provide engineers and system integrators with the basic information tools so that they can combine machine vision and robotics in their applications to meet manufacturing challenges. The focus will be on both components and on system design. It will include a brief view of the market drivers/opportunities and then focus on how to integrate vision and robotics, with lessons learned and specific case studies to illustrate the main points.

The webcast will highlight some of the problems, solutions, and typical applications of this technology:
i.)Using robots and vision: when is vision required?
ii.)What should the system integrator look for from software vendors?
iii.)Examples of a 2-D vision system used in conjunction with a robot
iv.)What image processing functions are required by 2-D systems?
v.)Descriptions of single-camera, dual-camera, time of flight, and laser scanner-based systems
vi.)The present challenges facing this technology and advanced technologies such as support vector machines, 3-D object recognition with CAD models, and multispectral analysis
