Job Description:

We are looking for graduate students to develop research in the areas of the interaction of nanomaterials and cells, the evaluation of cytotoxicity of nanomaterials and the development of novel forms of drug delivery and cancer treatment, based on magnetic nanoparticles.

Our research is supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation through a Center for Research Excellence in Science and Technology.

Students in our group are part of a multidisciplinary team of engineering and science students who design, synthesize and functionalize novel composite magnetic nanoparticle and, subsequently, evaluate their suitability for drug delivery and cancer treatment through hyperthermia.

Interested students should contact Prof. Rinaldi and, subsequently, apply to the Chemical Engineering Ph.D. Program at UPR.

Limited opportunities for visiting students may be available.

Support is available through individual research grants and many fellowship opportunities, such as NSF AGEP, LSAMP and the Puerto Rico Institute for Functional Nanomaterials.
