Biomedical Programmer Job - Radboud University Nijmegen

The programmer will the development of efficient and robust solutions for online analyses of EEG signals. The goal is to build a neurofeedback system for fast acquisition of perceptual categories of second language and music. The work thus includes supporting the design of analysis techniques, implementing a real-time and single trial analysis and feedback system, and setting up the EEG apparatus and the lab.

Researcher job in Applied Genoproteomics (Belgium)

The Unit of Animal Genomics (GIGA-Research, University of Liège, Belgium) has an opening for a research position to investigate genetic defects in pig populations.

The main qualifications are relevant experience and keen interest in genetic and statistical analysis methods as well as in database development. The educational status of the candidate can either be at the pre- or postdoctoral level.

The main responsibilities include:

• Development and adaptation of a user-friendly software package for genome- wide association studies in pig populations. The software package is expected to take into consideration various factors such as quality control of genotype data, population stratification, familial sub-structure, multilocus versus single locus analysis and the possibility to study binary as well as continuously distributed phenotypes.

• Development of a database which will host genotype data.

• Presentations to inform consortium partners about optimized data analysis procedures.

• Provide regular support for data analysis activities of consortium partners.

Funding for a full-time position is available for a duration of 12 months.

Job Description:

1.) Program development in C++,with scripting in python, php.
2.) Program testing with quality assurance methods such as svn code repository, bug tracking tools, nightly builds, unit testing, dashboard, code reviews and performance analysis in multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux and Mac OS).
3.) Development of programs will be done for image processing and machine learning, medical image data handling (DICOM), maintaining large annotated image databases , distributed computing, and the design of user interfaces for medical workstations.
5.) Application development for areas of online computer-aided diagnosis, 4D image analysis, and multimodal image analysis.
6.) Developing and maintaining softwares for researchers to use in various research projects.

Biomedical Scientist-Microbiology/Molecular Biology Job in Ireland

JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
To process samples and issue reports in accordance with written procedures. These should be processed within agreed turnaround times.
To maintain, calibrate and validate the instruments/assays assigned to the section according to written laboratory procedures.
To maintain regular inventory of all reagents and spare parts required in this section in order to ensure availability and future reagent usage prior to expiry dates.
To adhere to written internal and external quality control procedures in order to ensure the quality of the results.
Consults with laboratory supervisory staff prior to reporting grossly abnormal results and when an OUT OF CONTROL test run is encountered.
Prepares reagents as needed, maintains quality control records, compiles any required statistical data and maintains the cleanliness of work areas.
Knowledge in the proper preparation and storage of samples.
To file and archive raw data and worklists.
To reconcile returned invoices and purchase orders.
Participates in required Continuous Professional Education Programs, including conferences, internal journal club and lectures, as required.
To carry out specific tasks relevant to the general running of the laboratory as assigned by senior personnel.
Authority to order reagents which have been authorised by Finance and the Assoc. Director/General Manager.
Contact engineers to arrange for the service of the instruments of his/ her responsibility as instructed by senior personnel.
Validate or reject results in the LIMS (Flexsite) through the interpretation of internal quality control results, prior to review by senior personnel.
To release results in the temporary absence of BMS 3/4 or above. The relevant assistant supervisor must review all results released on the next working day.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A graduate diploma / diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science /Applied Science (Biology) including the study of Immunology, and/or Infectious Diseases or Medicine
or
A degree in Biological Science equivalent with relevant experience in the field of Molecular Biology (PCR) or Microbiology (Medical Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology) experience essential.
An alternative combination of experience, education, and training determined by management to be equivalent to the foregoing.

Required Imaging software programmer


Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Imaging software programmer for a period of 12 months to strengthen our Facility for advanced imaging and microscopy. In this role you will develop custom software solutions and/or extensions to commercial software and maintain an infrastructure for software developers and users. You will closely work with scientists on individual imaging projects and collaborate with other technology platforms and the informatics group to ensure the sound exchange of knowledge and software modules.

For this challenging position you will possess a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology with additional programming knowhow, mathematics, engineering or related discipline. Possessing an overview of imaging software in microscopy, basic knowledge of cell and molecular biology, microscopy and optics is also required. You will need to understand statistics, programming languages (like Matlab, C/C++, Java etc.), algorithms, data handling and analysis, and having experience in signal, image, video processing and mathematics.

This position is a hands-on role and demands an outgoing personality that can effectively discuss imaging projects with different users in a positive, service-oriented attitude. The ideal candidate is open to test new tools and software, and is both, able to work as a team member but also to work independently. The language in our institute in English.

NEUROBIOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN BELGIUM

Postdoctoral researcher Neurobiology (2 years)

Research at the Biomedical Research Institute:

With a staff of 80 researchers, clinicians and technicians, the Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) of Hasselt University focuses on preclinical (in vitro, animal studies) and clinical projects gathered around three main research topics: immunology, neurobiology and biosensors.
Our skills include: immune and neural cell phenotypic and functional analysis, flow-cytometry and cell sorting, ELISA, routine molecular biology, phage display technology, proteomics, electron microscopy, confocal microscopy and related advanced microfluorimetric techniques, cellular and molecular physiology including patch-clamp on slices, MRI and animal models (e.g. EAE).
BIOMED also actively participates in various research and teaching networks at national and international levels (e.g. EURON, NEURONET, ELEXITE).
Research at BIOMED also means working in a young, motivated, multidisciplinary and international environment.

Job description

The successful applicant will be working in a project concerning “Neuroprotection and repair strategies in neurodegenerative, neuro-inflammatory and excitability disorders”. He/she will make use of in vitro and in vivo models to study neuroregenerative aspects of these disorders. The main technical approach will consist of studying functional properties of cells in ex vivo brain slice preparations, using confocal imaging and patch-clamping.

Profile and diploma

Candidates must have an officially recognized PhD degree in biological, (bio)medical or life sciences or equivalent with a molecular/cellular orientation. The successful candidate has proven expertise in the field of neurobiology/neurosciences and in cellular imaging and/or physiology. The candidate has excellent communication skills, a good knowledge of English and is highly motivated to work in a multidisciplinary team.

VACANCY FOR EMG LABORATORY SCIENTIFIC OFFICER IN CYPRUS

THE POSITION

The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics has a vacancy for a Laboratory Scientific Officer in its EMG laboratory. The post involves carrying out diagnostic tests on patients with neurological disorders. These include investigations of the function of the nervous system such as nerve conduction velocities and electromyography, visual, auditory and somatosensory evoked potentials and electroencephalography. Full training will be provided. The position is initially for a period of one year, with a possibility of renewal.

QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BSc or equivalent degree in any Biological Science or closely related field.
An MSc degree as well as background in neuroscience and previous experience working with patients will be considered an advantage.
