PhD Student Position - Innsbruck Medical University, Austria

Research Area : Neuroscience / Molecular Cell Biology / Physiology 

Project:  Calcium channel α2δ subunits in nerve cells and CNS disease

Ongoing Methods  :
Immunofluorescence, live cell imaging of synaptic functions, electrophysiology, molecular biology, cell culture

Salary:
According to FWF rates for PhD students plus travel funds for international scientific meetings (www.fwf.ac.at/de/projects/personalkostensaetze.html).

The successful candidate will be part of a joint research group (Flucher/Obermair) consisting of approximately 10 researchers with diverse backgrounds (e.g. zoology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physics). The group is well integrated in the lively calcium channel research environment in Innsbruck, and participates in the Doctoral Program in Molecular Cell Biology and Oncology (www.mcbo.at), as well as in the a special research focus on Cell signaling in chronic CNS disorders (http://www.uibk.ac.at/pharmazie/pharmakologie/sfb-f44/) both funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

PhD Fellowship - Medical Imaging & Visualization (Austria)

Salary : Funded by FWF (The Austrian Science Fund), Austria

Institutes : Commission for Scientific Visualization of Austrian Academy of Sciences and
Institute of Computer Graphics and Algorithms, Vienna University of
Technology.

Qualifications:
Master in biomedical , computer science or equivalent

Skills required
1.) Experience in visualization field and image processing
2.) Experience in C++ programming and GPUs
3.) Good written and spoken english knowledge

Project Details:

The name of the project is KASI (Knowledge Assisted Sparse Interaction for Peripheral CT Angiography). The aim is the development of new data processng and visualization techniques for diagnosis of CT Angiographic data, which depict the vessels of lower extremities and their pathologies by means of hundreds of tomographic images.
