PhD Programme (Biomedical) in SREE CHITRA TIRUNAL MEDICAL INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY

PhD PROGRAMME

Promoting interdisciplinary research, the Institute offers PhD programme in the fields of Biochemistry, Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, Biomedical Engineering/Instrumentation, Cellular & Molecular Cardiology, Implant Biology, Neurobiology, Pathology, Polymer Sciences, Imaging Sciences and Interventional Radiology, Thrombosis, Toxicology, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Health Policy, Health Systems and Gender Issues in Health.


Designation of the Degree

The PhD degree awarded by the Institute is designated as Doctor of Philosophy of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology. The Certificate shall indicate the title of the thesis but not the subject or specialty.

Minimum educational qualifications for admission

Post-graduate degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Physiology, Zoology or any other branch of life sciences (excluding plant sciences), M.Tech in Polymer Technology, M.Tech in Materials Science / Bio medical Engineering / Instrumentation or Post graduate degree in Public Health, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Veterinary Sciences, Social Sciences, and Statistics with at least 60 % marks.


Method of selection

The selection of research scholars will be based on performance in a written test and/or interview to be held at SCTIMST in November. Those who hold UGC/CSIR / ICMR
individual fellowships need to appear only for the interview. NET-qualified candidates without fellowship have to appear for written test if they desire to be considered for the
Institute Fellowship. The Institute reserves the right to shortlist candidates based on scientific records, letters of reference and so on.

Financial assistance

Institute fellowships (2) at DST-approved rates are available each year for a maximum period of 4 years. Fellows will also be taken in Research Projects.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application forms will be issued on the month of October every year.
