PhD Biological sciences in UCL,uk

UCL is one of Europe’s largest and most highly rated centres for biological and biomedical research. Its strengths lie in the breadth and excellence of its life sciences and their integration into clinical disciplines.

Research is concentrated in broad themes that cross traditional departmental boundaries and
cover a vast range of fields from very basic molecular investigations, through clinical research to studies of populations and health policy.

UCL will be offering 4 year PhD Programmes in Life and Biomedical Sciences commencing in October 2010. This 4 year programme offers an additional introductory year which includes taught elements, as well as the opportunity to obtain research experience in several laboratories before deciding on a final PhD
topic.

Faculty of Life Sciences
Faculty of Biomedical Sciences which includes:
Institute of Child Health Institute of Neurology
Institute of Ophthalmology Eastman Dental Institute
Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research
Research areas include cellular, molecular, structural and developmental biology, all aspects of neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology, psychology, human communication
science and linguistics, immunology, clinical sciences including oncology, paediatrics and child health, epidemiology and public health, and primary care and population sciences.

Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, at least an Upper 2nd Class Degree in any area of biological or physical sciences.

The grant covers a stipend of approx £15,510 pa and UK rate fees.
