PhD in Bio/NanoPhotonics at University College Dublin

A number of PhD and post-doc positions are currently open in several research topics as listed below. for further information contact the Bio/NanoPhotonics group leader Dr James Rice (james.rice@ucd.ie).

Photonics in DNA based nanomaterials

Studying and controlling optical processes in DNA hybrid nanomaterials using nano-optics. Studying the exciton processes in these materials and applying these processes to bioimaging.

Nanoscale chemical mapping for bioimaging

Developing and applying methods to enable chemical mapping of materials by combining scanning probe methods and optics. Such mythology enables detailed information of material composition on the nanoscale and also nanoscale optical processes.

Bio-nanomaterial photovoltaics

This project centres on developing a novel nanomaterial system based on a combination of bio and inorganic nanomaterials to form a bio-hetromaterial design. Studies of the optical and charge transport properties of the hetrosystem will be undertaken.
