The School has modern research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and research infrastructure. The School includes over 50 academic staff who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds.
The Role:
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work in a team supervised by Dr Kate Stacey. The research project is in the general field of host cell recognition of pathogens, and specifically focuses on the response of cells to DNA detected in the cytoplasm.
The relevance of these responses to host defence, autoimmunity and tumour suppression will be explored. The project is funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council grant. Further details on the project are available from Dr Kate Stacey (katryn.stacey@uq.edu.au ).
The Person:
The applicant should hold a PhD in the area of biochemistry or immunology, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
The applicant should have the ability to plan, execute and interpret experiments independently; the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; high level inter-personal and communication skills; and aptitude for research as demonstrated by publications in high quality international journals.
Remuneration:
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Research Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $62,807 – $67,420 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $73,484 – $78,881 p.a.).
