Job description
The PhD stipend is affiliated with the research project ‘Advanced surface treatments for implantable medical devices’ funded by the Advanced Technology Foundation. The objectives of this project are to develop a production platform enabling production of microstructured micromechanical polymer devices, develop an electrode suitable for human implantation and investigate the effect of such an electrode in patients. The following partners participate in this project: Aalborg University, Neurodan, Danish Technical University and Danish Technological Institute.

The focus of the here posted PhD stipend is on the in vitro and in vivo characterization of the various materials that could be suitable for the new electrode. Methods to characterize the electrode will include, among others, cyclic voltammetry, voltage transients and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The work should lead to a recommendation of the most appropriate material to be used as electrode contact.

You may obtain further information from Associate Professor Nico Rijkhoff, Department of Health Science and Technology, phone: +45 9940 8810, e-mail: nr@hst.aau.dk concerning the scientific aspects of the stipend.
